The Centre for Distance Education (CDE) is an integral part of the University (established under Section 5(9A) of the University Act). Adopting flexible and innovative methods of education to ensure 'independent learning' to anyone, anytime and anywhere, the Centre offers programmes of the study that are customized to meet the learning requirements of knowledge seekers as well as to ensure that they learn at their own pace and convenience.
MOHAMMAD GULREZ, Ph.D. Professor & Former Chair, Department of West Asian ( Middle Eastern ) & North African Studies, and Director, Centre of Continuing Adult Education & Extension, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India Mohammad Gulrez is Professor and Former Chairman, Department of West Asian ( Middle Eastern ) and North African Studies, and Coordinator, 'Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies Programme'. In addition to his teaching and research work, prof. Gulrez also acted Director Centre for South African & Brazilian Studies (August 2015), which he established in November 2011 at AMU. Previously (from Jan.1999 to Jan. 2004, he served as visiting Faculty, Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at the National University of Rwanda, Africa. Prof. Gulrez was the Consultant /researcher, Good Governance (Component) for the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) Project, Govt. of Rwanda (2002). He has authored and edited seven books and contributed more than 37 research papers in research journals, and books published in India and abroad. Some of his publications include Conflict Transformation in West Asia(2004), Settlements and Resistance in the Occupied Territories (Ed.2005), Constitutional Poll Battle: A Study of Iranian Presidential Election 2005 (2008), Area Studies in India (Ed.2009), Arab Spring & Prospects of Peace in West Asia ( 2015), Prospects of Cooperation in Higher Education and Capacity Building: A Case Study of India and Sri Lanka (2017), etc. In 2017, Prof. Gulrez was empanelled with ICCR on its prestigious Short Term Chair to the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka . Previously ,as member and resource person, Prof. Gulrez represented India in Ghana, and Senegal for Pre- India -Africa Forum Summit Conference sponsored by ICWA/MEA, Govt. of India (2013). He is on the International Advisory Board of Asian Review Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Gulrez is currently working on Confidence Building Measures focusing on both the bi-lateral and multi-lateral tracks of the peace process. His area of specialization is Conflict Resolution, Ethnic Conflicts, Civil Society, and Poverty Alleviation. Prof. Gulrez has travelled extensively delivering lectures and participating in conferences and seminars in various universities in the USA, Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, United Kingdom, Senegal, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka .He holds M.Phil and PhD from Aligarh Muslim University.
Mr Mohammad Imran, an IPS Officer of 2011 batch, was earlier posted as the Superintendent of Police (SP) Railways, Jhansi. He has completed over 11 years in the police service with substantial experience at the command level in the police organisation after his recruitment as an IPS officer.
Mr Imran’s Service decorations include DGs Commendation Disc Silver (2018) and DGs Commendation Disc Silver (2019).
He is quite well versed in interpersonal management and in developing capabilities and resources.
Mr Imran has done Master of International Business-MIB and graduation in English Literature.
